Charley grew up in Malawi where when he was 12 his older brother started teaching him how to carve wood and make toys. In 2012 he moved to Pretoria to start his business making toys and has since moved to Somerset West.
Charley doesn’t use any power tools, just knives, saws and his hands. He only uses Malawian mahogany and cedar woods to carve out his creations. He can make any type of vehicle but mainly focuses on bicycles, Land Rovers, front loaders and Beetles because they are the most popular.
This incredibly talented artist can be found most days selling his art opposite Somerset West Mediclinic.
